BUHI, Camarines Sur --- After more than a year of hiding, a 49-year-old wanted criminal was finally arrested by police authorities in a remote village here early this week.
Police Senior Inspector Alejandro Monge Jr., Buhi Municipal Police Station (BMPS) chief, identified the suspect as Nestor Barrios, married and a resident of Barangay Cagmaslog, this municipality.
Barrios, according to Senior Inspector Monge had long been listed as one of the lake town’s 10 most wanted persons for a string of criminal cases.
The suspect who did not resist arrest was collared a few meters away from his house by the police on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by RTC branch 37 judges Rogelio Dacara of Iriga City, Monge added.
In Baao, Camarines Sur, the local police arrested one Janice Beroin Y. Bolo 20 years old, single and a resident of San Ramon, this municipality for violation of Republic Act 7610 or crime against women and children.
The suspect was arrested by virtue of arrest warrant issued by Judge Dacara. Bail was fixed at 80,000 pesos.
In another development, the Iriga City Police Station (ICPS) under the watch of Spt. Ronald Briones has been the subject of negative criticism for being inutile against the unabated water meters theft which started a few months ago.
An employee of the Iriga City water district told the Bicol Mail that the number of consumers who lost their water meters to unidentified perpetrators is nearly a hundred at present.
A bounty, amounting to P100,000 and an additional P10,000 is being offered by the City Government and the ICWD, respectively, for any information leading to the arrest of the thieves.
