Dalan 2009

DALAN 2009 - The First Bicol Film Festival is launched by the Ateneo de Naga University with the help of the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) for January 29 to 31. In line with the celebration of the National Arts Month (February 2009), Dalan 2009 comes in dual meaning: Dalan as paving the way to a Bicolano Film Industry; and Dalan(on) or view the works of Bicolano Filmmakers. With the Department of Digital Arts and Computer Animation; Department of Media Studies; and Department of Literature and Language Studies (all of the Ateneo de Naga University) jointly sponsoring the activities, the Festival features exhibits, lectures and viewing sessions.

        Exhibits will include pictures and memorabilias of Film icons and filmmakers from January 29 to 31; 9:00 am- 6:00 pm at the Ground Floor of James O’Brien Library of the Ateneo de Naga University.

        Line up of speakers for the lectures include Howie Severino (of EyeWitness-GMA7) on Making Documentaries, Patrick Flores on Forum Peninsula to National Cinema: Nora Aunor and the Film Artists of Bicol, Tito Valiente (of Ateneo de Manila University) on Bicolano Images for Film, Kristian Cordero (of Department of Social Sciences-ADNU) on Bicol Story Ideas for Film, Adonis Rugeria (of Department of Media Studies-AdNU) on Language of Film, Miguel Rapatan on Film Appreciation, Jesse Lasaten and Robert Quilao on Animated Feature Film Production and the Role of Bicolano Animators, Fr. Danilo Isidro (of Department of Digital Arts and Computer Animation-AdNU) on Animation Education and the Emergence of a Bicolano Animation Industry. All these lectures are slated in the morning and afternoon sessions of the three-day festival. Evenings are dedicated for viewing sessions.

        Representatives from NCCA are also expected to come and grace the occasion.

        The Festival activities are OPEN to the public, especially the film enthusiasts, students and teachers of language and literature, film, communication arts, development communication, humanities of various schools, colleges and universities.
