NCF beefs up medical mission

THE Naga College Foundation Center for Social Responsibility supported a medical mission last September 28, 2009, in partnership with the Caceres Catechetical Ministry (CCM).

With the help from the NCF Nursing & Health Sciences Department, the event served about 1,150 catechists and their families from almost 80 parishes all over the Region.

The medical mission, dubbed “Medical Services Day” was held at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Basilica. It was a whole day event kicking-off with the blood letting activity in the morning and the actual medical mission in the afternoon. The event had free medical and dental check-ups; a pediatrician for children; random blood sugar (RBS) screening and digital rectal examination. NCF also provided limited free medicines for the participants.

Aside from the medical assistance, recipients were also provided with snacks and free entertainment through NCF’s Center for Arts, Culture & Bicol Studies.

The Naga College Foundation is extending its appreciation to Sanofi-Aventis; Merck Sharp & Dohme, Phils.; Cathay Pharmaceutical; Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) and 502 (CAS) CDC, 5RCDG, ARES COM for the support provided to make the medical mission possible.

“Linaw ng Mata Alay ni Gov. LRay Villafuerte” also contributed to this event by providing free eye check-ups and eyeglasses to the catechists.
