OLD AND NEW. The present generation of Bicol Mail staffers led by publisher Nilo Aureus (3rd from right, second row) and editor Joe Perez (3rd from left, second row) pose with old timers and veterans led by the paper’s first editor Francis Nacianceno (seated extreme right) during the visit here of the founder’s daughter Noree Aureus Briscoe (seated, second from right) and her husband, fellow journalist David, for a reunion that revisited the paper’s interesting times since its founding in 1953. Seated at extreme left is Nick Gomez, the paper’s advertising manager in the 1960s. Also in photo is Tony Amparado (2nd row, 4th from left, in striped shirt) who once served as Bicol Mails’ business manager.
FOR NOYNOY. Clad in t-shirt of his favorite bet for congressman in CamSur's third district, Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo stomps the district's 7 towns to strongly campaign for presidentiable Noynoy Aquino and vice presidentiable Mar Roxas of the Liberal Party.

PARADISE FOUND. A rural town eastward of Camarines Sur or CamSur—a quintessential peninsula straddling across Maqueda Channel on the East, the Pacific Ocean on the North, and the Lagonoy Gulf on the South—Caramoan is a remote oasis of diverse natural attractions and a home to unspoiled islets with several pocket whitesand beaches, partially hidden by asymmetrical rock formations. The islets are 30 to 45 minutes boat ride apart from each other.
NAGA'S NEXT MAYOR. The four mayoral candidates in Naga City (left to right) John Bongat (LP) Adan Botor (NPC), Sulpicio Roco (Aksyon Demokratiko), and Luis Ortega (Independent) slug it out during the 2010 Mayoralty debate and forum sponsored by the UNC College of Law to show who's worthy to be the city's next chief executive as three-termer Mayor Jesse Robredo leaves after the May 2010 elections.

MAKING WAVES. Camarines Sur Gov. LRay Villafuerte (top photo, left) made distinctive waves at the Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions and Events (MICE) Conference held recently at Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center, when he was speaker and panelist on the topic “Re-Brand Philippines?” where he convincingly presented to the conferees his unique style of “think out of the box” tourism marketing strategy to “market the Philippines by leaving Philippines out” that even his expert co-panelists (top photo, left to right) JWT Manila CEO Jos Ortega; CCO David Guerrero of BBDO Guerrero and Limetree Consulting (Australia) Sharon Hannaford have to concede was a very valid point. Camarines Sur exhibit booth, one of the most visited and admired during the activity, is shown at bottom photo as backdrop for a souvenir photo of Gov. Villafuerte with Kazuyuki Goto of Travel Café Company, Ltd., Japan and Colors Philippine Travel Guide Magazine publisher Clang Garcia. gbc/jorsabia
A NIGHT OF ACOUSTICS, GOOD CROONING & AWESOME SOUL. Music lovers and starry-eyed fans flocked to the 1,500-seater air-conditioned Avenue Plaza Hotel Tent in Naga City on February 13 to watch the full concert of heartthrob Sam Milby, chanteuse Nina and balladeer Richard Poon. The Valentine concert, with no front act and featuring 3 mainstream artists who performed for more than 2 hours, was a pioneering feat in the music scene of Bicolandia. Loi’Dee;

THE AVENUE OF LOVE. Valentine’s Day was celebrated with the intimately special Borderless Cuisine dinner at the Avenue Plaza Hotel’s elegant Cafe Plazuela, made even more extraordinary with a serenade from songstress Nina (top photos). The jam-packed Avenue Square grooved to jazz/swing performances from the saxophone and guitar duo, and enjoyed the food and beverages of the various restaurants and bars in the lifestyle center (lower photos).
